Omar was a charismatic man, and a capable negotiator, who knew how to bring people together, and resolve disputes in manners agreeable to all parties. The S'afir family's haughty attitude and strong sense of tradition can be traced back to Omar, many of the descendant family heads in his clan have either been given the name Omar S'afir or changed their name upon taking the mantle of leadership within the clan.

History

The name sake of the current S'afir family member on council. Omar I, was a very vocal proponent for change to the existing political conflict amongst the noble houses and great clans of Aralia. His desire for stability, lead to the first meetings of the leadership from the greatest houses to form the fledgling alliance which later became the council.

Omar pushed for a stronger navy. Not that piracy was a serious problem in that time, but some feared the growing Iskandean naval forces. It was only a few decades since they became independent of Krolar, and Aralia's ongoing trade with the empire might be seen as supporting the enemies of iskander. He also proposed a plan to establish trade forts within the Plains of Tekara to trade with the natives there; something which took more than half a century to even begin to implement.
