Omar was a charismatic man, and a capable negotiator, who knew how to bring people together, and resolve disputes in manners agreeable to all parties. He was also considered charitable, but some think it was more a matter of keeping up appearances. The S'afir family's haughty attitude and strong sense of tradition can be traced back to Oamr, many of the descedant family heads in his clan have either been given the name Omar S'afir or changed their name upon taking the mantle of leadership within the clan.

History

The name sake of the current S'afir family member on council. Omar I, was a very vocal proponent for change to the existing political conflict amongst the noble houses and great clans of Aralia. His desire for stability, lead to the first meetings of the leadership from the greatest houses to form the fledgling alliance which later became the council.

Omar pushed for a stronger Navy. Not that piracy was a serious problem in that time, but some feared the growing Iskandean naval forces. It was only a handful of decades since they became independent of Krolar, and our trade with the empire might be seen as supporting their enemies. He also proposed a plan to establish trade forts within the Plains of Tekara to trade with the natives there; something which took over a century to even implement.
