- The Malys River is named for the Malys, a tribal people who live throughout its watershed and the neighbouring region. For the most of its length the river is fairly wide and flat, forming a lazy meandering path through the plains, ending at a rocky saltmarsh.
Location

- This river winds its way through the Plains of Tekara, eastward to the Torcastan Sea
Settlements
- The upper and lower Malys River basins form the traditional clanholds of Clan River Cat and Clan Sand Tra respectively. Fishing huts and hamlets dot the banks of the river.
Features
- Lake Malys - A large crescent shaped lake which divides the upper and lower sections of the river.
- Malys Estuary - A rocky saltmarsh wetland located at the mouth of the river.
History
- The river basin and its extended watershed is the traditional territory of the Malys. when the tribes began forming a more permanent home in the area the river formed a common cultural and geographic anchor for the various clans. To date it serves as a provider of food, and as a key transport corridor into the interior of the Plains of Tekara.
