Have Dalfyn been killed by their hinta, or another hinta? Yes. As to the necessity of such an act, I cannot say. It is one of our greatest sins. The Dalfyn guide and nurture the very souls of our people. To conceive of someone willingly breaking that covenant is abhorrent to our very nature. - Bassir Jencho

Personality

Bassir is possessed by an insatiable curiosity, and a remarkable strength of will, which others see as arrogance. While young and eager to take the lead as the spiritual advisor for his hinta, Bassir still holds great respect for Talir and his wisdom.
I dream of a golden sun shining upon the vast canopy of my forest home. Of sweet breezes carrying the seeds of future generations to fertile soil.

History
Bassir is a spiritual leader amongst the hinta of his birth. He guides his people in all matters of spirit. He showed potential as a spellsinger at an early age, and was mentored by Talir Sento, to replace him in time. The elder Dalfyn still lives, so Bassir works along side him, sharing duties, until the fateful day that he passes. Bassir has been training beneath Talir for more than seven cycles.
Magical Ability
Like all dalfyn, Bassir has a strong talent for spellsinging; a form of magic unique to the Sildaryn. Singing to/with the spirit of living, and (in rare instances) inanimate things, allows for subtle manipulation of the natural world.
The most impressive feat Bassir claims to have performed with his magic was relocating an entire hinta through his songs. About two hundred people sung to sleep in one village, and awoken in another. A journey of twenty-five days if taken on foot. Only a few of his fellow Dalfyn even believe it happened, and most of his hinta think they were simply carried in their sleep.
Present
Bassir hopes that the elder dalfyn will choose to remain at the sacred grove when next they visit. Not out of selfish desire for power, but out of concern for the elder's well-being.
When I was a child I was in awe of his abilities. When he approached me about joining the ranks of the dalfyn I was honoured. As he trained me, and I learned more about the secrets I realized it was the powers dalfyn wield that held my admiration. Talir is a great man, I do not mean to detract from his vast experience and wealth of knowledge, but he is old and just a mortal, despite my childhood views. Realizing he is just a man was eye-opening. If he chooses to remain at the grove I will continue the cycle with the hinta. We will see each other once per year so long as he remains. I think I will still send and receives news and requests for his wisdom throughout the years. I am about the age that many Dalfyn become independent of their mentors direct instruction. Most are only a few decades younger than their elder. Talir and I have closer to twenty-five cycles between us.
