- Summer Island is a small shield volcano which is completely snow and ice covered during the long winters of the North. It is during the short hot summers that the island is freed from its ice sheet and earns its name. The island geothermically active throughout the year and has a small lava dome at its highest point, which occasionally breaches its lava dikes, outflowing to the frozen sea.

- This volcano forms an island located amongst the smaller islands off the northwest tip of Layor.
History
- During the short summers, this island becomes a breeding ground for many species of migratory birds, and amphibious sea mammals. Some clans of the Layor will make hunting trips to this island and at least one semi-permanent settlement exists on the island's southern shores.
