Description: Long trailing vines with numerous vibrant yellow oblong melons.

Distribution: Wetland areas
Life Cycle: Seeds are dispersed following animal consumption of the fruit by water. Seeds sprout during spring flooding while still free floating in the water, and anchor themselves as the floods recede. The vines are buoyed up by their large leaves spreading out over water and any raised land. Flowering and fruiting occurs throughout the summer into early autumn.

Cultivation: Cultivated in wetlands as a food crop.
Culinary: Fruit - The sweet tasting fruit are popular during the midsummer season, when they ripen.; Alcohol - Some effort has been made to produce brandies from the late season fruit, but the taste is an acquired one.
