About

For most cultures on Entorais the new year is celebrated on the first day of spring. Celebrations are about welcoming the return of green and growing things, and saying goodbye to the snows and cold of winter.

Common Practices

Houses are decorated with the fresh budding branches of fruit trees and new spring flowers.
Many new ventures are began on the first of the year, as it is a time for the hatching and birth of the new.
As part of the spring cleaning of homes, old and broken tools or furniture are gathered for a bonfire which it lit at sundown and kept burning all through the night. This cleansing of the old, is seen as making room for new and better things, like the plowing of the fields turns under the chaff and stubble of last year's crops making the ground fertile for the planting of new ones.
