He also is a good sport when bested in challenges or games of chance. His gracious nature, and charm have carried him further than most of the other street kids of Corvaise, the city of his birth. He also has a charitable side, which influences who he chooses as marks, and which way coins might slip when he performs off stage.

Seven Moons (circus troupe)
History
Kio is a member of the Seven Moons Circus Troupe; a group of travelling performers whom travel about the nations of Aralia and Tabras, visiting county fairs and other festivals where they perform shows for coin. On stage, he slips all sorts of objects into a persons clothing, and surprises the dupe by removing and presenting any number of objects they had secured on their person. Off stage, Kio uses his talent to supplement his income when things are slow, but ever the trickster will always leave something in exchange for what he takes. Usually pebbles, or trinkets, sometimes a dead bird or rodent, even coins for those less fortunate than himself.
Kio was recruited after he was noticed by Behir Rawetnebe working his trade in the audience of one of the shows. Because the circus drew good crowds and offered up distractions it made for easy pickings. He was caught in the act by one mark, and his quick thinking recovery, and subsequent avoidance of being outed as a thief, was noticed. Behir offered Kio a spot in the show in the next town, which seemed like a good idea to Kio. A chance to let the incident fade, with meals and a tent to sleep in for putting on a show, and helping around the caravan. For Behir it meant one less thief working the crowd without sharing a cut with the troupe, and Kio's knack for it added a measure of security against other would be cut purses.
His most memorable theft was a purse-cutter's coin. That's when a less scrupulous man than Kio files down the edge of a coin to make a small sharp knife edge, and uses it to cut purse strings, but it looks innocuous enough to pass casual inspection. Having beat a thief at his own game made Kio feel like he was in top form. An hour later his entire purse went missing; including the coin-knife.
