- The East Ferry of Kemp Hyläböm is a simple flat decked barge attached to stout ropes which are pulled by a wheel located on the island side of the river. A bell is located at the east bank to summon the ferry as required.

- The East Ferry provides transport across the river at the eastern end of the island to the south bank of the Celvan above the southern waterfall channel.

- The ferry is large enough to move a loaded wagon with two draft animals, four horses, or as many as twenty people in a single passage. A fee per head and axle is charged in both directions. A portion of this fee goes to the town's treasury.

- The ferry employs a pair of teamsters who assist with loading, unloading, and handling of animals.
History
- Historically a bridge provided crossing of the river at this location. The bridge was intentionally removed in 229 YG to provide more security for the town. The ferry replaced this crossing, and uses the original foundations of the bridge as its two docks.
