- A meter tall cane plant that is covered in small thorns. The leaves of this plant make an excellent demulcent, and the red cone-like fruit have the property of reducing sexual capacity. The fruit is otherwise tasteless and of little value.

- A rapid growing, a\self propagating cane, which grows advantageous roots, and disperses through animal consumption of seeds. Cone fruit begins flowering in the spring and produces fruit continuously until the autumnal frosts.
