About
- Cönokna HyGunypekrukö, or the Song of Cönokna is a short folk ballad from Kythus about the death of Cönokna the second king, and his brother Cëratna whom replaced him upon the throne. Longer versions exist which include additional stanzas about each of the royal brothers, but such additions vary with the individual skald. The portion here remains consistent across Kythus.
Controversy
- Conspiracy theorists hold that Cëratna actually arranged his brother's death, and some versions of this song include stanza's with more direct accusations towards Cërat as as usurper. Whether this is true, or merely grew from dissatisfaction towards the harsh rule of Cëratna, is lost to history.

English Translation
Born to king and queen, and raised to rule the land.
Pëlöryk raised an army, to steal and loot from man. Villages were burning, and the people bleeding.
Cönok took the challenge, attacking the pëlöryk tribes. His army fought them back to the mountains.
When victory was near, arrow astray slays the king. Cërat ascends the throne, which changes everything.
