Personality

A flaunter of wealth and power, Omar S'afir likes to lord his position over others, making him a target of ridicule behind his back. Despite his family reputation Omar XV is considered a competent council member.

Corvaise, Aralia
History
Omar XV took his seat on the High Council at the age of 36, in 784 YG, and has served faithfully without any serious scandals.
The S'afir Clan
The S'afir family has its wealth primarily in the miller's and bakers guilds, such that they have a near monopoly on the grain trade in urban centres of Aralia. While some say all the Great families are haughty, the S'afir family has a reputation for being glory hounds. They always try to look good in everything they do, and losing face, even if profitable is a difficult thing for them. They have a tradition of keeping the name Omar in the family such that there have been no less than fifteen so named family heads since the time of Omar I, some have even changed their name to Omar upon becoming clan head for the family. As well they have a reputation for being ruthless, as illustrated by an failed assassination of house Solus' heir apparent, during his ceremonial taking of a council seat, in 647 YG, while no one could prove which of the family was responsible it was understood that at least some of them had backed the attempt. The family is seen as devious and are certainly willing to use violence to solve problems before exhausting other means.
