- Being a relatively new chantry, Newhaven has not built much of a reputation, and being so isolated from major cities means they do not see visitors very often. Newhaven is the home of The Riverfolk esoteric order.
Location
- Fahdel's Landing, Fahdel's Purchase
- The chantry of Newhaven is a large, by local standards stone and timber building, resembling a mix of warehouse and personal home. It has a small stone wharf, and storage rooms located on the bank of the Golden Tra, above which is the dormitory, library, and kitchens. Attached to these are a four-story turreted tower, and a number of personal apartments.
Services Provided
- The chantry offers room and board, study space, and some supplies for alchemy or other esoteric uses to confirmed members of the arcanist's guild.
Staff
- Headmaster
- Ral Denmar
- Ral is an exceptionally old man, whom founded Newhaven and the cabal that calls the chantry home. He is functionally blind, but manages to compensate using his magic. Ral is a master of air.
- Master of Archives
- Torgan
- Torgan is a Drolac, a rarity amongst sorcerers. He is the chantry librarian, and master of the archives. He is a master of the water element. It is common knowledge amongst the chantry that should Ral Denamr die, then Torgan would become the headmaster of Newhaven.
- Journeymen
- Newhaven is home to four journeymen sorcerers, whom study independently, and serve in the remaining roles of the chantry operations.
- Apprentices
- At present only two apprentices study at Newhaven, both under the tutelage of Torgan, although one also serves Ral Denmar as a valet.
- Other Staff
- The chantry is served by three domestics. Two of whom were orphans taken in by Ral Denamr, and a third who lives nearby in the town.
History
- Newhaven was built over a three year period (374-376 YG), during the initial settlement of Fahdel's Landing, and has been the home of its headmaster ever since. In 383 YG, a minor structural fire partially destroyed the kitchen and half of the dormitory floor. The damage was repaired, and special wards were emplaced to prevent similar disasters in the future.
