Skindancer

About
- Other Names
- Skindancers, Selkies
- Overview
- Skindancers are shamanic practitioners, who can adopt the form of certain animals through ritual magics, involving specially enchanted pelts or hides called Godskins. Due to the nature of shape-changing, such transformed individuals may be considered the same thing as Therianthropes, but there are some notable differences between the two types. Skin-dancers are not cursed, retain their sense of self, do not spread the power of shape-changing, and lack the accelerated healing of therianthropes.
Appearance
- Treahni
- In treahni form these individuals appear as normal individuals of their ethnicity and culture. They show no outward signs of their ability, but may bear scars and injuries sustained while in their alternate form.
- Beast
- The alternate forms of these individuals are most often similar in size to the shaman. They will bear any scars or injuries which are present on their original body, such as missing eyes, birthmarks, or even tattoos.
Powers
- Shape-changing
- In beast form, a skindancer retains their personality and full mental capacity while having the body and physical attributes of the beast.
- Skindancers in either form have access to any psionic abilities they may possess, and while in the beast form may be able to perform some ritual invocations or sorcerous spells if their altered form permits such actions.
