- A pale blue-white lichen found on hardwood trees in more northern climes. The spread of this plant almost resembles hoarfrost on the host trees. Produces small red fruit-buds.

- The ground plant makes an excellent anthelmintic enema. The web-like fronds if soaked in warm water, show demulcent qualities, and the small red fruit-buds are a salty spice. The whole plant if eaten raw will cause perspiration.
