The Creche

About

The Creche is a collection of woven vine baskets forming great bowl shaped nest hanging from the ceiling of the grotto cave. Each bowl shaped nest is roughly 2-4 meters in diameter, with the larger ones including stiff branches for additional structure.

Location

Singing Water Rook, Darlom Mountains

The creche is located within the grotto itself, hanging from the ceiling of the cave. Strong vines link the various nests together in a lattice of rope-like bridges and climbable vertical accesses.

History

With the added protection of being raised off the ground, these nests form the sleeping and general living quarters of the rook. there are a few larger nests reserved for brooding the young of the rook. At any given time there may be around a dozen eggs or new hatchlings being cared for by a sister group of three or four adult Etausi. The Singing Water Rook has been established for a long time in this location. They continue to expand the grotto and propagate the thick vines supporting their nests throughout the decades which in they have occupied the space.
