Reeflings are a type of flying fish, renowned for racing ahead of waves or the bow wakes of ships, and leaping from the water to glide ahead. Sailors consider reefling sightings to be a sign of good luck during lengthy sea voyages.

Reproduction
Reeflings spawn on rocky shoals and in coral reefs during the late winter. The eggs are left to develop and hatch on their own, and many become food for foraging sea creatures before reaching adult size.
Flying
Reeflings are known for their surfing and flying behaviour. They will race large waves and leap from the face of the wave, gliding forward of the approaching water. The purpose of this behaviour is unknown.

Notable Sub-Species

Blueback Reefling
A slightly smaller than average sub-species with a distinctive blue saddle shape at their dorsal fin. This species is found in the warm tropical waters of the [[<Southern Sea>]].
Silver Reefling
The most recognized and typical member of this fish species. Noted for their flashing silver scales, and exhibition of the flying, surfing behaviour.
Yellow Fin Reefling
A reefling species noted for the distinct yellow colouration of its fins. They are common in colder waters of the northern Merelean Sea.
