History
Rok'n was born the third son of a wealthy Aralian merchant. He was encouraged to join the church as, his elder brother was heir to the family fortune. Following his parent's wishes, Rok'n became a priest. He came to reject his wealth and familial power, instead living a more austere life in the church. After a decade serving Ryla as a temple priest, he changed his focus to that of proselytizing the faith. He began with mercenary men, bringing them into his confidence, and offering them legitimate work, and a promise of salvation, within the church rather than a sinful life spent serving greedy noble families.
Saint Rok'n is attributed with bringing the faith of the Twinned Goddess to the scattered peoples in what is now Aralia's hinterlands. It is said that his unwavering faith and sermonizing swayed many to abandon their former uncivilized beliefs and join the faithful of Ryla. As he travelled he gained a procession of devout converts who eventually branched out to carry on his missionary work to foreign lands and even more remote settlements.
In truth his conversions were more often than not performed at the end of a blade, with the threat of fiery death for those who refused. Nevertheless, he was quite successful in spreading the faith to the more remote regions of his nation. He was accompanied by a modest force of soldiers, priests and converted warriors. He eventually met his death in 237 YG, succumbing to a winter ailment of the chest at the age of 63 sols.
Celebration
Some twenty-five years after his death, Rok'n was declared a saint for his lifelong devotion to the faith, and for his efforts to spread the religion. Rok'n K'naol - Veil of Rok'n - is celebrated on the winter solstice in remembrance of his life and deeds.
