Life Cycle
Seeds are dispersed following animal consumption of the fruit by water. Seeds sprout during spring flooding while still free floating in the water, and anchor themselves as the floods recede. The vines are buoyed up by their large leaves spreading out over water and any raised land. Flowering and fruiting occurs throughout the summer into early autumn.
