These trees grow upwards of 5 m and are found in warm, semi-tropical climes, with lightly forested areas. The name glass peach is a reference to the translucent petals of the blossoms of the tree, which resemble stained glass. The fruit of the tree is a sweet tasting fleshy drupe with a hard pit.
The fruit are a yellow-orange colour, and about half the size of a fist, with a light fuzzy texture typical of similar fruit. The fruit are tasty and nutritious; often eaten fresh, baked in pies, or made into preserves.
The tree itself has no particular defence, although the hard pit protecting the seeds in it's fruit does generally protect the embryonic plants from depredation. Also like other plants of a similar species the seed itself contains compounds which give it a bitter taste, that while not toxic, deters consumption.
In regions where the glass peach grows, treahni view it as a delicious fruit. Glassblowers often try to emulate the delicate structure of the petals in some of their art, and others will decorate their homes with cuttings from the tree during the flowering season, as the blossoms are beautiful to look at and add a pleasant fragrance to a home. Mythologically speaking the Glass peach tree is believed to be blessed by the Goddess as a sign of divine touch upon the terrestrial realm.
