Appearance
Fyyran is a diminutive man bent from hard labour, with a well receded hairline of scraggly grey hair. He shaves irregularly, and usually has several days growth of a thinning grey beard. His chin sports a large white scar, and his eyes are grey with droopy lids. Typically he is dressed in woolen leggings with a loose fitting tunic, low leather boots, and a old a worn weather cloak. He walks with the assistance of a driftwood staff.

Personality

Fyyran's mind is still keen despite his aging appearance. He is a stoic and resilient man, with a practical understanding of his place in society, He never had a family of his own, but has taken in the occasional orphan, for a few years at a time.
After he discovered the statuette, some claim he has become more withdrawn and secretive. He now can be seen talking to no one in particular, and mumbles that he "will be doing something about it", although no one knows to whom or about what he is speaking. To most people it seems he is succumbing to early senility with age.

History
Fyyran is a poor urbanite who works whatever odd jobs he can to make ends meet. Mostly he spends time along the coastal beaches hunting for clams and crabs. He will also collect shells, drift wood, the occasional bits of cargo that washes ashore from ship wrecks. His most prized find is a statuette depicting a creature that is part treahni and part dragon, The treasure could have been sold for enough money to set Fyyran in a comfortable lifestyle for several years, but for reasons even he doesn't fully understand, he elected not to sell the figure. Instead he keeps it in a small nook within his meagre home, one might even call it a shrine.
Sea Breem Skimmer
For a ten-day during mid-winter the Northern Shores of the Torcastan Sea are awash with tiny blue-green phosphorescent crustaceans. Skimmers like Fyyran will dig shallow pits in the sand at low tide, to create temporary tide pools and skim breem from the waves that fill their pools. These small creatures are then sold live to dye makers who use them to make inks and dyes. This method of harvest keeps the breem fresh, as the colour fades when they expire on the sand beaches or rocky shores. The annual breem harvest is an opportunity to make some good coin during what would otherwise be a sparse work season.
