- Description
- A low growth herbaceous plant which grows long stems crowned with florets of pleasant yellow, orange or red. The flowers mature to a ball of seeds with long fluffy tufts that catch the wind and sail away to propagate the plant elsewhere. The taproot of this plant can produce a pink dye useful in textiles. The smaller rootlets have nodules which contain poisonous compounds that can cause bleeding ulcers and liver failure if ingested.
