- Dagger fruit is named for the poisonous properties of the oil from its seed. The shrubby bush produces a large number of dry fleshy drupe fruit. The seeds produce a viscous oil when pressed which is a cardiac poison. The fruit of this bush is otherwise unremarkable and deemed inedible.
